Conspiracy Theory
Something fascinates me about conspiracy theories. Not just the theories themselves, but the attitude most people have towards them. It’s as if there is a particular line of thought or mindset that is intent on debunking or ridiculing any serious discussion about conspiracies. Perhaps there is a conspiracy to demonise conspiracies?
Of course conspiracies exist. That is not in question. Take the most notorious conspiracy of recent times – 9/11. It was a conspiracy – as no doubt the perpetrators conspired to achieve their desired ends. The unanswered questions are not about whether it’s a conspiracy or not – but rather, who the real conspirators are.
As a result, conspiracies get bad press – as it’s easy to ridicule them when outrageous theories are aired. If I was to assert that short grey beings have taken over my local village, then I would most likely be ridiculed, precisely because I would be unable to offer any tangible proof.
But there is more to the desire to ridicule conspiracies than just citing lack of evidence. What of conspiracies where significant proof of conspiracy exists? And what to make of those who ridicule them regardless?
To take the 9/11 conspiracy again. The accepted wisdom is to believe the conspirators were Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda. After all, that is the official reason as to why the USA and NATO allies are in Afghanistan right now – because the Taliban refused to hand over Bin Laden in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attack.
He never actually claimed responsibility after the attack though – which is strange enough in itself – but perhaps he thought it enhanced his “image” to imply complicity later.
However, there is considerable evidence to suggest that the conspirators were something and someone completely different, and that the official story is full of holes.
These two videos give typical and reasoned voice to that opinion, and the internet has a plethora of websites asking hard questions and revealing unanswered anomalies – this website included. And having read such arguments and viewed various videos, I also find it hard to believe the “official” conspiracy line. In fact I don’t believe it.
It would appear there is a second conspiracy at work in the aftermath of 9/11 – a conspiracy to debunk any and all conspiracy theories that suggest a perpetrator other than one officially blamed – Bin Laden and co.
I have detected, even in my own thinking, an unwillingness to believe the worst case scenario – that 9/11 was the work of an intelligence agency, a state actor of some sort. And perhaps this is because to be confronted with such a fact would be to admit that those in power really are perverse and evil – something we are perhaps reluctant to admit.
It’s as if we cannot countenance the idea our rulers (or those who serve them) may in fact be psychopaths – and if we were to admit that (to ourselves), then our whole “world” would come tumbling down.
Then there is the social disapproval issue. There is a blanket of silence over all of this. The mainstream media will not touch it. If you bring it up in polite company you will be escorted to the door. If you raise it with friends you may be laughed at. If you devote your life to uncovering the truth, you will be labelled a “radical”, a “nut job”, or worse.
So there is this huge inertia around what should be a deadly serious subject – to get to the bottom of things for once, and finally dig out the truth.
Maybe we aren’t ready to discover that those we put our trust in – our various governments – are inclined to be psychopathic killers and Hitler clones.
The truth may be too frightening to contemplate. And if it is, and if the truth is very different to what we’ve been told, what will happen to those who are really guilty? And more importantly, what will happen to our perceptions and understanding of the world we live in, and how it’s run?
What if we can’t face the truth?

Hm. I think the main reason 9/11 couldn’t have been an inside job is that they just aren’t smart enough to do something like that and not get found out. I mean, they can’t even do the simple things right.
The websites you link to are full of lists of names and people giving it the big “I am” with little in the way of persuasive fact or evidence.
There is a good bit of myth busting on this website:
http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military_law/1227842.html?page=6
There’s a lot of reasons to consider governments “evil”, but I think you do yourself no favours here. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and unless you have strong evidence it’s not, it may be wise just to light up and move on to other things.
Of course “government” as such is not smart enough – not when it comes to considering the abilities of the average politician. I was not referring to the “visible” government – but agencies that are associated with (and paid by) governments, agencies that are certainly capable of this sort of thing. In fact, much more capable than a few arabs with box-cutters.
Most conspiracy theories (including this one) are silly. They usually assume a ridiculous degree of coordination of effort, do not properly motivate the conspirators, and do not take into account the tremendous interconnectivity of the world.
To explicate further, the more people that need to be involved in a conspiracy, the greater the chance it will be found out, or that some of the members will disagree with the (often questionable) tactics or goals. Even assuming perfect loyalty (and not overtly telling others about the plans) carrying out such a large scale task would leave evidence, cause people to ask questions, and likely eventually lead to inadvertent discovery. It is FAR MORE LIKELY that the conspiracy of a few individuals (the ones that we do know carried out these attacks and who DID have the proper motivation) were the responsible ones.
Now am I part an even unbelievably larger conspiracy to cover up the already large conspiracy – or can you believe that what I say just makes sense!
If one can accept a conspiracy of arabs working as a small group – then one can just as easily accept another group of individuals working in the same way – as a false flag operation. I’m not suggesting a large number of people were involved – far from it.
Hey
The government is the biggest crook in the world, think about it.It’s their way or no way,and they get to steal from you legally. And we say o.k,i guess that’s the law,but are we lawyer’s,and know every law, NO.
Hey David,
Great debate. I have been on this planet for the last 50+ years, and I can say with great conviction that there have been many conspiracys ovey those years.
For Eg: The UFO debate, which has now been switched to Germanys Nazi Party, and the end of World War Two, when 1000s of German Scientists
(especially those that worked on the “BELL”etc) were bought into the USA.
WHY?
We could go on, but I find that too many people are walking around with their eyes and ears closed.
But, the best thing to happen to humans in the last 50 years is the INTERNET, which has opened up all communications and information
World Wide.
David, you wrote:
“It’s as if we cannot countenance the idea our rulers (or those who serve them) may in fact be psychopaths – and if we were to admit that (to ourselves), then our whole “world” would come tumbling down.” I believe you have hit the nail directly on the head. When I first let this into my consciousness, I felt honestly disoriented for at least two months afterwards. The world was nothing like I had assumed it was for many decades. My disorientation arose fom having to re-think just about everything upon which I’d based my life. Intellectual integrity, as well as courage, is essential in order to go where truth leads. It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted. Though it’s not popular to acknowledge such things in forums like this, I will go ahead anyway and say that my personal faith forms the core of who I am, for which I am grateful. Without an inner core of some kind like this to anchor one, I an unsure it would if it would even be wise to individually confront such overwhelming reversals of perceived reality. (Later, when such awareness reaches mass consciousness, people will then feel safer in seeing things more clearly.)
In general, to accept the official 9/11 explanation, one would have to suspend the laws of Newtonian science. Why would anyone choose to do that? Certainly not any of the hundreds of credible professionals at the great link you provided!
Anyway, too many high-profile people were attached to the event in questionable ways. They connected through profit from mind-boggling insurance settlements; through being in charge of security; through suppressing effective military responses; and through removing evidence faster than a speeding bullet.
Fortunately, the formula “follow the money,” never fails to enlighten. In this case, the money leads right to Iraqi oil fields, as well as to a permanent, truly enormous, fortress-like, opulent military base the US constructed there, which few know about (and which the sold-out mass media never report on). As RFK, Jr., has so movingly argued in one of his speeches, just five companies own all the major media on the planet. One doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that there’s a reason for this. That kind of control allows for a form of mind control, via releasing only the kind of news that doesn’t disrupt hidden agendas.
Diligently following the money likewise leads to well-connected contractors who were set up to soak the US for billions–in the name of supporting that godforsaken war, of course. Smedly Butler (“War is a Racket”) was a decorated military hero who sniffed the stench of the parallel government & its psychopathic greed, decades ago. His book is a classic, and it hasn’t lost one iota of relevance.
You also asked, “What if we can’t face the truth?” My sense is that until large numbers of people experience their quality of life plummet to the point where they get panicked, no perpetrators will be held accountable. However, when this recession brings its inevitable tsunami of inflation upon the US, that will surely be when people start to wake up by the millions. Changes will start happening then, likely beginning first with the destruction of what is. (I have no desire for mass violence of any kind, and will not engage in violence. However, I do recognize how desperate people will act–especially when they finally are able to let in the depth of how they’ve been betrayed.)
The urge for change will inevitably cause tremendous loss of life–far more than any past war efforts. I hate to think of this, but it’s hard to imagine any other way that will unseat the “powers that be” (aka the elites). I do think that eventually, our people will clear away enough of the toxic structures that they can form a government that (this time around), will be much more vigilant about allowing unscrupulous interests to worm their way into government functioning. Because the US is already on its way down as a super-power, perhaps the US will even re-organize into a number of smaller countries (similar to Europe).
In regard to the question of how sociopathic power-mongerers might come to justice, people may just want to check out Cliff High’s web bot predictions [www.HalfPastHuman.com]. He offers a truly fascinating look into the immediate and long-term future. High bases his predictions on the assumption that humans receive advance information about future events, even though the knowledge of what they are receiving doesn’t make it into their consciousness. Nevertheless, the body (or subconscious) “knows.” Consequently, people will tend to “leak” their unconscious foreknowledge into their language use. Hence, High’s bot programs look for language changes around various issues.
As for High’s basic assumption, Dr. Dean Radin of the Noetic Science Institute, has already scientifically proven that humans do receive foreknowledge, despite being unaware of it. (Google him.) In one experiment, Radin hooked test subjects up to various monitors to track changes in their body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, breathing, etc. He sat each subject before a computer programmed to randomly present two categories of pictures–pictures which were calming (like scenes of nature) and pictures which would cause reactions (like autopsy scenes, bad accident scenes, etc.).
What the monitors showed is that peoples’ bodies “knew” what kind of photo would appear, before that photo was visible. Their physiological responses gave this foreknowledge away. The rate of verification far exceeded anything that might be randomly produced, too. When Dr. Radin published his results, a Nobel-winning scientist found it hard to believe that such a thing was possible. Therefore, he showed up at the Institute, and asked to be hooked up to the monitors and put through the same test regimen. Amazingly, his body did better than the test subjects. His body “knew” what kind of picture was going to come up, even BEFORE the computer had randomly selected it!
Therefore, there is some verifiable science behind Cliff High’s assumptions. At the same time, the art of web bot predicting likely has a ways to go to be fully reliable–which High would be the first to acknowledge. High said recently that his company’s rate of success was better than what chance would produce. Even so, he’s recently begun a strong “get the word out” campaign to advise people of what he fears will begin happening quite soon. His intention is allow people to attitudinally prepare for radical changes, so they won’t succumb to the helplessness that shock often induces.
His most most recent report (available for purchase on his site–$10) predicts horrific things, events that can make your blood curdle. One cannot help but hope fervently that he’s wrong! Even so, I’m keeping my eye on his predictions and their dates, to see if his upcoming predictions pan out. FYI, a partner site to Cliff’s work at HalfPastHuman is George Ure’s site: http://www.UrbanSurvival.com (which is free). There, George weaves High’s predictions into daily commentary.
Thanks for this post, David, and the chance to respond to it. I appreciate your courage in posing extremely significant questions.
HI Lee,
Your assumptions are very correct most Governments are more corrupt than the worst criminals that they have in custody. The greed for money and power exceeds any kind of the consequences of their actions.
As we all know Politicians are only prominent until elected thereafter only appear from the woodwork just prior to the next election with further promises,a complete farce!!!! They are only interested in self enrichment once voted into power.
Thanks, David, what is your opinion on world super powers?
I just found this site. It’s great. I would like to add my two pennyworth, which is:
The most evil groups on the planet are, from the top down, the Medical Professions, the Governments and the Lawyers.
The Medical Professions are evil in that they have a financial interest in ensuring the disease is never cured. Were they to cure disease they would be out of work, so instead they put us on ‘maintenance’ medicines and while we remain ill they reap the financial rewards.
The Governments of the world because they keep us all in slavery (as far as they can). This is achieved by using the mass media, television in particular, to brainwash us into having unrealistic expectations which, in turn, has us all purchasing articles that we do not need and can’t afford. The ensuing debt is what makes the population ‘slaves of the Government’. Those with money can chose, those with debt can only obey.
The Lawyers are the hyenas. Their prey consists of the victims of conflict regardless of the cause of that conflict. At hundreds, thousands even, of dollars an hour they quietly pick over the substance of the dispute, all of the time knowing that the longer it takes , the more they ‘earn’. More often than not, the client with the most money and, logically, the best lawyer wins his case (regardless of any justice) The end result of all of this is further slavery for the losers while they work to pay off their debts to society, their lawyers, the government and their opponents.
While all of this goes on, what do we do? well, the religious await the ‘second coming’ presumably in the hope that God will get it right the second time around. The non thinking masses carry on being slaves, cannon fodder and cash cows for the Governments and the ‘thinkers’ of the world continue to look after themselves as best they can whilst trying to enlighten others as to the ‘truth of life’ in the hope that one day true justice will prevail.
Give me one day as ‘God’ and watch me deal with the corruption and evil.
People debate back and forth as to who authored the 9-11 attacks really. Let’s consider the results.
Most ruling elites want the most possible control over their populations.
So if a unknown nebulous terrorist can attack us at an time, what should we do?
Bring in the Patriot Act, curtail travel (show the people we are doing something), produce no-fly lists (work those police computers), investigate financial transactions (hey you might be with Al-Queda)
When Ron Paul says we should stop the American Empire by bring home all the troops — Chris Wallace (A Fox News Spin specialist) tries to ridicule him with
“So you take your marching orders from Al Queda?”
Ron Paul Responded “I take my marching orders from the Constitution”
Increase huge government spending programs devoted to national security with corporate security firms who fund election campaigns.
Security firms headed up by Religious fundamentals (Most organized religions should come with simple warning — Caution — May contain Nuts!)
Did a bunch of Saudis crawl out of a cave and stage the worst attack on America since Pearl Harbor? Yeah OK!
So how come Iraq needed to be invaded? There was absolutely no connection between Saddam Hussein and 9-11
And that poppycock drivel from Popular Mechanics – Which has been refuted by many actual scientists (not like that also ran at PM) Please!
Building 7 was not hit by an aircraft I repeat not hit by an aircraft. And why did the BBC newscaster report building 7 had collapsed when it was clearly visible behind her? And did not collapse for another 15 minutes.
To slough the idea that a conspiracy to bring in fascism using fear of terrorism (Which Hitler did with the “Enabling act”) couldn’t happen because
“Them people is too stupid to pull that off” is extremely naive and dangerous thinking.
Just as David does, I have questioned the official story of 9/11 for several years now. That is why I am now sitting in the Republic of Panama, waiting for the arrival of my household goods. I could no longer live in the United States after realizing that the criminals that run that country always have and always will get away with their crimes.
Oh, I can face the truth all right. However, the truth is being hidden from all but a very few. The “Powers to Be” (G8 Summit attendees, Bilderbergers, High Masons, and all the rest) want population decrease at any cost and One World Rule. Regardless of what any political or religious groups say, destruction of our way of life is the ultimate goal, achieved by lies and deceit.
They are just starting with the devaluing of world currencies, high debt and World Depression. It will get worse from here. There are many who refuse/cannot believe the worst of our governing authority. I believe they are living their lives with blinders on. I will not try to convince them otherwise as they are not yet ready to see or interpret. When they are, it will be too late to save us.
Thank you Lee for your post.
I do not understand how anyone can think that 9/11 was not a conspiracy that goes way beyond the party line. Do I believe our government authored it? No, probably not but do I believe some of our leaders were complicit. Absolutely because the evidence suggests that someone had foreknowledge of what was coming. Having PROOF though is entirely different. I can easily believe the “powers that be” beyond any countries government could have orchestrated it and controlled our leaders actions and it is hard to have faith in our government because of it.
In response to Rich and the Popular Mechanics article. Before you get too convinced on the facts from popular Mechanics. Follow the money. WHO owns Popular Mechanics? I still can’t figure out how those buildings collapsed from “The fire” First time a building of this magnitude has “fallen down” from fire. Watch a video of the buildings falling. Time it. It’s a complete freefall. The only way those buildings can fall like that is a “CONTROLLED DEMOLITION”…and what was in building 7?………
Here is an article I wrote several years ago which ponders the same thing… the idea that we humans seemingly are unwilling to examine evidence which seriously challenges our core beliefs, regardless of how compelling that evidence may be. It doesn’t bode well for the idea of rationality.

While I love your site, things are getting rather out of hand – for example:
“The Medical Professions are evil in that they have a financial interest in ensuring the disease is never cured. Were they to cure disease they would be out of work, so instead they put us on ‘maintenance’ medicines and while we remain ill they reap the financial rewards.”
I am a physician and I can say this is ridiculous. Every day I see physicians (in our hospital) working to cure/improve people’s lives. I work to do the same. From the economic perspective, you have to realize that the drug company or physician with a reputation for curing or improving outcomes the most will be highly sought after and improve their reputation and income.
Just look at what you yourself do (in whatever field you perform it). If you did it far better than your peers, most likely you would gain a great reputation and possibly higher income.
******************
David,
You may not be saying a large conspiracy was perpetrated, but many others do. Witness the gentleman above who noted that a reporter stated that building 7 had fallen, before it actually had. The implication is that the press knew ahead of time what would happen and ‘accidentally’ reported on it early.
I think there ARE conspiracies in the world, obviously, but you must also realize that great claims require great evidence. As an example, I am an atheist, and have in the past had religious folks claim to have witnessed miracles (things flying, people surviving what they shouldn’t have, etc.) They then turn to me and expect capitulation. Now does a random difficult to explain event REALLY imply an all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present being in the universe? Hardly. Much, much more evidence would be required.
The same is true for conspiracy theories. You need to really marshal a lot of clear evidence before I would be convinced. That’s not impossible, but it is improbable. Someone above said the internet has really helped in this regard. That is true, and the internet is a great thing. It also, though, can create a lot of confusion and mis-information – so it cuts both ways.
Let’s just say it. There were far too many eye-witnesses and video-recorders around on 9/11 for it to have been anything other than what it appear to be. In addition, nothing has put into serious doubt the conclusion that the terrorists that have been identified were responsible for this, at the direction of Bin Laden.
In addition, this wakes us up to the fact that many Muslims are in fact anti-western and regard the United States as the devil and western values as anathema to their own. Such people have already demonstrated on numerous occasions their willingness to blow themselves up for religious battles, all over the world, and now in the US too.
(I would recommend to you Hirsi’s book “Infidel”. She is a former devout Muslim from Somalia who has great insight into the Muslim world.)
I knew the day it happened and I saw it on TV that it was all wrong. The explanations of what happened that day are all lies. Rather than find out the truth for themselves and connect the dots Americans are happy to except the media propaganda and refuse to believe our govt. could possibly be responsible for something so horrible. This govt. has an agenda and it will happen by whatever means they deem necessary, even killing its own citizens for their political gain. I pray daily that all truth will be revealed but I ain’t holding my breath. God help us all!
David,
“The Medical Professions are evil in that they have a financial interest in ensuring the disease is never cured. Were they to cure disease they would be out of work, so instead they put us on ‘maintenance’ medicines and while we remain ill they reap the financial rewards.”
I’m sure this is not aimed personally at you, and when I read the article I certainly saw no match, hes simply saying there are larger forces at work. There are many lovely people out there like you who are trying to help us, but you personally can’t control what goes into every medication, the same as you can’t control what people eat, I’m sure if we had not over complicated the chemicals that companies put into food we would have half of the diseases we have today, or at least they could be more controlled.
At the end of the day most of us have been trained by the system to become the system, and sometimes some of us can see pass the vasard. There is no doubt in my mind that companies that control food and disease will profit… if we let them…
The now is whats important, making sure we eat well and chose food with less chemicals…
@David
Well stated David. The ruling elite are capable of getting anything accomplished that suits their agenda. My personal favorite gripe is the secret military operation called Project Cloverleaf. Our atmosphere is being sprayed with who knows what, day in and day out, and we are forced to breathe what it is.
