Offshore
Offshore strategies are freedom strategies. In other words, making use of offshore banking, offshore asset protection, investing and business is all about maximising your practical freedom.
Freedom is not some intellectual pursuit. Freedom is not some religion. And freedom is certainly not about politics. Freedom is about you living the life you want to live. It’s about you having the freedom to think, speak and act on your own behalf – without any force or threat of force preventing you.
Unfortunately, in this world, force is the order of the day – and at every turn you are being forced to do things against your will. If you want to take any serious steps towards freedom then you are going to have to step outside of the force field known as the nation state.
The nation state is that entity that presumes to own you. It forced your parents to send you to their schools. It forces you to hand over your hard-earned money. It can force you to fight for it. It can prevent you from doing with your own life what you wish. In other words, the state is like the “parent from hell” whom you can never escape.
Except you can escape. You can mitigate the force applied to you by the state of your birth by simply leaving it.
The word “offshore” simply means a country other than your own. If you bank offshore, it means you bank in a foreign country. If you invest offshore it means you invest in other countries. If you work offshore it means your income is derived from other countries.
By taking parts of your life – your money, your assets, your business, and even your very life – to other countries, you remove them from the country that presumes to own you. This ownership is enforced by citizenship laws, which are best illustrated by the issuance of national passports.
Without a passport you cannot travel. Without a passport you are a prisoner of the country you were born into. The only way to reduce the power of any state over your life is to ensure that much of your life is carried on in states other than your birth state – and to do that you need a passport.
By diversifying your life over more than one state you are able to mitigate the worst excesses of state power.
Offshore is code of internationalisation. By internationalising your life you can gain specific benefits – benefits that increase your practical freedom.
Offshore is a means to an end. Freedom is the end and using offshore strategies is one very effective way to increase your freedom.
